chk(), try to check data before enter Options

I'm try to check data that will enter to FCANDIDATE.D_CANDCODE field
with in the format of '00-0000','99-9999

but so far I still can enter '000-000'

chk(FCANDIDATE.D_CANDCODE,'00-0000','99-9999')

Please help
