There is currently a limitation within the D3 Device Manager that when you are adding a pseudo tape device, it does not display hidden directories (ProgramData is one and the default for the d3database and d3virtual folders).

If you wish to be able to create a pseudo tape device in a hidden folder using the D3 Device Manager, then you need to remove the hidden attribute from the directory. This can be done by right-clicking on the directory and selecting properties from the context menu. Un-select the hidden checkbox towards the bottom of the screen and press apply and ok.
